Target The Question {{A Review}}
This month I have had the pleasure of reviewing Lone Star Learning‘s Target The Question for 1st grade! Target The Question is daily math program that only takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The purpose of Target The Question is to help children learn how to focus on the question and pick out extra information that is within a word problem. Each day there is a new word problem. Handwriting Without Tears… a difference you can clearly see! {A Review}
For months I have had people tell me to get Handwriting Without Tears for my boys to learn handwriting. I thought I could just as easily print a bunch of worksheets off the internet and have the kids sit and do them and that magically their handwriting would just get better with practice. I was wrong. What would happen is the boys would get bored and annoyed with doing generic worksheets everyday. This caused frustration and their handwriting suffered! How to make DYED pasta for crafts!
Need: Pasta (Any shape or size) Food coloring (I used Wilton gel) Isopropyl alcohol or hand sanitizer Ziploc Bags Instructions: Take a handful of pasta and place in Ziploc bag. Add a dab of coloring (or a few drops of liquid coloring) Add a few drops of alcohol or hand sanitizer. Close bag and move pasta around to distribute color evenly. Open bag and lay pasta out on drying rack. We allowed ours to sun-dry. A little extra help with homeschooling:

White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
White Sands National Monument White Sands National Monument is probably one of the most awe inspiring places we have visited! The science behind how the vast dune fields got there is so interesting! While we were there the boys learned about the dunes and gypsum and earned their junior ranger badge for White Sands National Monument! There are over 275 square acres of dune fields. These dune fields are made up of a mineral called Gypsum. The gypsum is brought down from the surrounding mountains by the rain and are deposited into an ephemeral lake or playa. Crockpot Creamy Butternut Squash Soup
Ingredients: 1 Butternut Squash (Seeded, peeled and cubed) 1 sweet potato (Peeled and Cubed) 1 yellow bell pepper (diced) 2 red bell peppers (diced) 1 tbs garlic 1 small onion (diced) 2 small red apples (cored and diced) 1 8 ounce cream cheese (I used Fat Free) Instructions: Add all ingredients to the crockpot with 1 cup of water (or chicken broth) Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours until ingredients are tender. Use stick blender to puree ingredients. Add the cream cheese and allow to melt completely. Stir and enjoy with crackers or bread. **Weight Watchers: 3 points per cup when calculated as a recipe**
