Timberland Lake Campground Cream Ridge, NJ
Timberland Lake Campground, Cream Ridge, New Jersey If you are planning on taking your RV to Six Flags Great Adventure or the Jersey shore I would recommend staying at Timberland Lake Campground. This place is super child friendly and the staff was AMAZING with the needs of the whole family! The pool and facilities were always clean and there are planned “themed” weekends every weekend! We had a BLAST with redneck weekend and tug o’ war!! This campground has a fully stocked camp store as well as various outdoor activities. We actually spent a few weeks of going nowhere… because we could!

New Jersey and The Jersey Shore!
Our time in New Jersey may have been shorter than we expected, but we really enjoyed our time there! We were about 18 minutes from the beach and spent lots of time playing in the ocean! The boys loved the water and even though it was freezing cold they would body board and come out shivering, warm up and go back in! When we first got to New Jersey this Texas family felt a little out of place! People were short with words and not very friendly… well, not in a Texas friendly kind of way. At first I thought they were just rude, but turns out people in New…

Our drive from Texas to New Jersey!
Our drive from Texas to Virginia summed up in one word: exhausting! 🙂 We drove 12 hour days, in the pouring rain the first two days. And the next two days we meandered the remaining 6 hours. The drive was beautiful! I had no idea Virginia and Maryland were so pretty! We boon-docked (parked to sleep without electric, water or sewer) for the night outside of Lynchburg, Virginia on the second night! We found this spot because a very generous person on the Fulltime Rv’ing Facebook page offered his land for anyone passing through! It just so happened that we were passing through there the day after he posted his…

A little setback!
We were suppose to leave for New Jersey this morning, but yesterday one of the guys in our convoy had a blow-out on the way to us. All is good with the tire and the guys decided to leave tomorrow (Tuesday) morning instead of trying to get out of here today. The good news is I kicked the boys and the men OUT of the RV for the day and I plan to get some “pre-trip cleaning” done. Today’s agenda: Dust, vacuum and mop floors. Deep clean bathroom. Clean house in general. Clear all counters of moveable items. Move, tuck, snap, clip and stow everything away so it doesn’t move…

We are on the move!
Monday morning, April 22,@013, 5:30am we load up the RV and head east! Here is our route! To say that we are excited is not enough! The boys are already asking questions about New York and the beaches of New Jersey! Yeah, we are a little more than excited! Maybe if you are along the route we might be able to see you! …on the road again

Tour the wild, wild west: Old Tucson Studios!
We had the opportunity to check out Old Tucson Studios on a recent trip to Tucson, Arizona. Old Tucson is a movie studio and theme park. Great westerns such as Gun fight at the OK Coral and Little House on the Prairie were filmed there. We got free tickets and had zero expectations of what we were going to encounter there. The only thing we knew was it was a replica of the wild west. We pulled into the theme park and parked. We started noticing that we were basically the only ones NOT dressed up. We just so happen to go to Old Tucson on the one weekend that they…

Happily Uprooted answers WHY
We have been on the road for over a year and a half traveling with my husband’s job. Sometimes we are at a job site for two weeks and sometimes we are there for a few months. We have criss-crossed the US four times and visited 23 states and Puerto Rico. No matter where we go or who we meet we get a few of the same question over and over… today Happily Uprooted answers the WHY! Why do you travel? Why did you chose this life over a “normal” life? Why don’t you have a “normal” house? Why do you home school? Why are you doing this to your…

White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
White Sands National Monument White Sands National Monument is probably one of the most awe inspiring places we have visited! The science behind how the vast dune fields got there is so interesting! While we were there the boys learned about the dunes and gypsum and earned their junior ranger badge for White Sands National Monument! There are over 275 square acres of dune fields. These dune fields are made up of a mineral called Gypsum. The gypsum is brought down from the surrounding mountains by the rain and are deposited into an ephemeral lake or playa. As the water evaporated the mineral is wind-blown…
