Old West Museum Cheyenne, Wyoming
We marked another attraction off of our Cheyenne, Wyoming Bucket List! We visited the Old West Museum! We got to peek inside one of the first RV’s! The boys wanted to know where the kids’ room was! lol This is the first time we have seen such a huge collection of wagons! We especially loved the undertaker’s wagon and the milk wagon. Grant took his weekly bath. 🙂 They played in the playroom while Patrick and I went back through and looked at some of the cool, old wagons. ... and apparently cowboys are supposed to be tough and mean. While we were there we watched a rather long (and…

Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Cheyenne, Wyoming
a style=”text-align: center;” href=”http://happilyuprooted.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/DSC_0251.jpg”> Number one on our Cheyenne, Wyoming Bucket List is the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens! The boys and I decided to check it out while Patrick was at work. The gardens were beautiful and well kept, but what the kids REALLY loved was the Paul Smith Children’s Village. As we entered the children’s village we were met with blooming flower, plant, and vegetable gardens! The three-quarter acre piece of land was jam-packed with interactive things for children to do! The 1930’s era building located in the rear of the gardens has an old rock wall attached to it that forms the “secret garden”. Even as an adult it felt…

Cheyenne, Wyoming Bucket List
Yesterday the boys and I look a little 20 minute trip to the Wyoming Visitors Center to get some ideas about what to do in Cheyenne while we are here! What we found was quite the surprise! The visitors center was so nice! Not only did it have the typical brochures and books of places to see and things to do, but it also had a walk through history of Wyoming! This included a lot of informational push button displays, art installations, an unearthed dinosaur skeleton AND a jail cell with an escape hatch that led to a slide! The kids LOVED it and it made learning about Wyoming fun!…

Wyoming: First Impressions
We made it to Cheyenne, Wyoming today, Saturday, August 17. We found the campground where some of the other guys from Patrick’s work are staying and pulled in. First impressions of this place are that it looks nice… until you realize that there is barely internet and almost no Sprint cellphone service. We attempted to find the goldilocks of campgrounds here in Cheyenne, but we came up short and decided the one we are at will have to do. The others were either too far away from the job site, dusty, or way too expensive. We chose WYO campground on the East side of Cheyenne. The kids found the playground…

Headed north to Wyoming!
We had (thankfully) an uneventful, safe trip to Wyoming! After Duck Dynasty we headed north through Arkansas and then Missouri. From southern Missouri we headed west to our favorite little overnight RV spot in Kansas! We love finding these little hidden RV overnight spots! In this case the one in Parsons is only $5.00 a night with electric and water hookups! It is right in Marvel City Park and next door to the baseball fields and dog parks. There is also a tornado shelter… it is Kansas after all! Next we continued northwest through Kansas and came across another CHEAP place to stay overnight! Hill City is a TINY Kansas…

State 30: Louisiana AND Duck Dynasty!
We made it to state 30: Louisiana! We wanted to stop by the Duck Commander in West Monroe, Louisiana. We pulled in around dark and stayed the night at a campground 5 miles from Duck Dynasty Duck Commander headquarters! We got up in the morning and went and had breakfast and on to the Duck Commander warehouse! The Duckmen weren’t there as it was the season premier of Duck Dynasty season 4 and the whole family was in New York! I was a little sad because I had my heart set on meeting Si! 🙂 There wasn’t really much to the “tour”. There was really just a souvenir shop, the…

Alabama’s Highest Point: Cheaha State Park
Today we decided to go for a ride up to Cheaha State Park in Delta, Alabama and go for a hike. We were rewarded with an awesome tower, an all-accessible  hike on a boardwalk and amazing, breathtaking views! After our hike and tower climb we went to a restaurant in the state park. The food was not that great, but the views from are table were awesome!
