We’re a retired couple who are transitioning to full time in
our new 2016 Heartland Oakmont 385QB. It’s fun to see
the similarities in our rigs.

We have a bunkhouse with built ins on two perpendicular walls; I kept the bunk above one wardrobe for use as an extra bed. On the other slide out wall we have two bunks with a so called trundle under the bottom one (just another teddy pad).
I removed the trundle and have underbed plastic boxes with all my shoes in them; the top bunk has plastic storage totes – I places fabric inside the totes to make them look uniform, and can store all sorts of things in them. The bottom bunk ha become my lounge area, with three teddy pads, a quilt, bed and throw pillows.

I also found a shower curtain with mesh pockets, and have hung a fabric shoe organizer on the back of the bathroom door; I use it for everything from washcloths to brushes, to toiletry products; I use another organizer that I cut up – all over the rv – back of cabinet doors, around the bed frame in the main bedroom, on the inside of the washer/dryer door, and more. Storage is so important in an rv!!!

How do they get up there though? Thinking of doing something similar in our bunk room (tearing out the bottom bunks)… Any advice before we do it? Thanks 🙂

We are looking at different options that will comfortably accommodate our family. Our primary concern is cold weather living. We have found some travel trailers that we like and really like the roominess of the 5th wheel but would have to buy a new truck. Any suggestions?

Are those two separate bunk spaces? I have two kids and both small toddlers…ideas for how to do this?

I just love what you did with your boys room. We are traveling and live full time in our fifth wheel. I’m in the process of gutting my kids room. If you don’t mind, I was wondering where you got the drawer and cabinet system? It would be a perfect fit for us. I’m pulling out the futons and would like to put some sort of dresser system for my oldest daughter.
Thank-you for sharing your home, it is always awesome to see other families doing the same thing.

Hi! We had two couches, one on eCh side, orginally. They actually come out really easy. I think we had to fold it up like a taco, unscrew from the wood. Remove the couch part and then remove the wood from the wall. I hope that makes sense!
